This week’s announcement about the new cover crop premium subsidy has resulted in many questions from growers across the country. There are many reports of inconsistent information regarding deadlines, inspections and inspection fees. FSA is aware of this at the national-level and is working to make sure proper procedures are consistently followed with correct information provided by FSA to growers.  

We anticipate additional guidance will be sent from both RMA and FSA in the near future. At this point, the key is for the farmer to make sure that they report to FSA any acreage they feel may qualify by June 15th. There are no additional requirements from policyholders when reporting their acreage for insurance.
